shut.eye (excerpt)
de novo dance company
The Secret Theatre - Long Island City, NY, 4/3/2016
Program Note
Inspired by sleep, dreams, and the subconscious, De Novo Dance’s shut.eye creates an immersive, multi-media “dreamscape” through movement, music, and interactive technologies. Accompanied by live and electroacoustic music, the performance features De Novo’s extended roster of dancers, musicians, and sleep experts. Combining experimental belly dance, butoh, performance art, and musical robots, which allow the audience to manipulate the sonic environment, shut.eye creates surreal interpretations of sleep experiences.
